Who has the keys?

Wix: keep the keys with the business

A Wix site, its premium plan and often its domain sit in one Wix account. Transferring the site moves them to the business together.

Every step below is from Wix’s own help pages, checked on 6th October 2026. Screens change: if a step doesn’t match what you see, the linked page is the one to trust. Nothing here needs you to share a password.

Add a second admin

In your register this is field N.4 of the Wix account.

  1. In the site’s dashboard, go to Roles & Permissions and select Invite Collaborators.
  2. Enter their email address and tick Admin (Co-Owner).
  3. Select Send Invites. The seat is filled once they accept.

An Admin (Co-Owner) can manage almost everything but can’t delete or transfer the site.

Turn on 2-step verification

In your register this is field N.6 of the Wix account.

  1. Go to Account Settings and scroll to 2-Step verification.
  2. Select Enable next to the method you want, such as an authenticator app, and follow the steps.
  3. Turn on a second method too, so one lost phone can’t lock you out.

Transfer the site to the business

In your register this is field N.3 of the Wix account.

  1. In the site’s dashboard, select the Site Actions icon, then Transfer site.
  2. Enter the business’s email address and choose what to transfer: the plan, the domain and business email, premium apps.
  3. Select Continue, check the summary, then Transfer Ownership. The business accepts within 3 days.

A Wix Payments account and your payment details don’t transfer; the new owner pays future renewals.
